Latest news and improvements from the BuildFind team

# Upload Zip and ASiC-E Archives **Date: April 23, 2026** You can now upload `.zip`, `.asice`, and `.bdoc` archives directly into a project. Instead of having to unpack them on your computer first, the platform reads the contents and lets you choose what to import. ## What's New When you add an archive to a project, a preview window shows every file inside, including the folder structure. You can tick or untick individual entries, see the total size, and confirm — the selected files are then imported into the current folder while keeping the archive's internal folder layout intact. This makes it much faster to bring in full drawing sets, signed document containers, or any other bundle you receive from a partner without extra steps on your end.
# Pin-Point Citation Highlights in the PDF Viewer **Date: April 23, 2026** When you open a source from a chat answer, the PDF viewer now highlights the exact sentence that supports the claim — not just the surrounding paragraph. ## What's New Instead of showing a yellow box around a whole page or section, the viewer draws a tight amber highlight directly on the cited phrase. Clicking a citation jumps you to the right page and puts the supporting line front and center, with a little padding around it so it's easy to read. The highlight also lines up pixel-accurately with the visible text across any zoom level, and the sources panel under the answer now shows the verbatim quote from the document rather than a long block of raw text — so you can see at a glance whether the source backs up the claim before even opening the file.
# Simpler Material Takeoff Flow **Date: April 17, 2026** The material takeoff tool is now easier to understand and use from the first screen. The page has been rewritten to explain the workflow more clearly, so it is easier to see what to select, what to enter, and what kind of result you will get back. ## What's New The page now uses clearer instructions, more direct section titles, and a more descriptive action button. Adding materials and custom details is also more streamlined, so the form feels less fragmented and easier to complete.
# Material Detail Extraction **Date: April 16, 2026** The materials tool can now pull extra details from schedules and specification tables, making takeoffs easier to review and more useful to share. ## What's New You can now ask Buildfind to extract specific details such as reference codes, sizes, colors, materials, finishes, opening types, glazing, and other custom fields alongside each material. These details now appear directly in the results view, saved history, and Excel exports, which makes it easier to compare variants, review product specifications, and hand off clearer material lists to your team.
# Room-Based Material Extraction **Date: April 6, 2026** The materials tool can now identify which room or area a material belongs to when that information is available in your schedules and finish tables. ## What's New When you extract materials from project files, Buildfind now keeps track of nearby room and area headings such as entryways, bathrooms, balconies, utility rooms, and other spaces. This makes the results easier to review because you can see not just what was found, but where it belongs. Room information is also included in the Excel export, which makes it easier to hand off takeoffs, double-check quantities, and organize work by space instead of reviewing one long list without context.
# Never Miss Product Updates **Date: April 6, 2026** You can now spot new BuildFind updates more easily after signing in. ## What's New When we publish a new product update, BuildFind now keeps track of whether you've already opened the updates feed. If something new has been posted since your last visit, you'll see a clear indicator in the app sidebar. ## Why It Helps This makes it easier to stay on top of new tools, workflow improvements, and quality-of-life changes without having to manually check the updates page.
# Better Defect Reports on Mobile and Desktop **Date: April 6, 2026** Defect reports are now easier to review and act on, especially on phones. ## What's New On mobile, defect reports now use cleaner cards instead of a cramped table layout. It is easier to scan each issue, review locations and photos, and open the actions you need without fighting crowded controls. On desktop, the main report actions now sit together in a clearer order. Editing, exporting, and email generation are grouped more naturally so the next step is easier to spot.
# Editable Defects With Change History **Date: April 6, 2026** Defect reports are now easier to keep up to date after the first report has been generated. ## What's New You can now edit defect names and locations, reassign the responsible subcontractor, and remove photos directly from a generated defect report. Each saved edit creates a new report version, so the latest report stays accurate without losing the earlier record. Each defect now also shows a change history so your team can see who made an update and when it happened. That makes it much easier to follow corrections, confirm responsibility, and keep everyone aligned on site.
# Defect Review Completion Emails **Date: April 6, 2026** Defect reports are now easier to close out and follow up on once site issues have been reviewed. ## What's New You can now mark individual defects as fixed directly inside a defect report. This gives teams a clearer review flow when they are checking which issues have already been handled. When every defect in a report has been marked as fixed, BuildFind now sends an email notification to the person who created that report. This makes it easier to know when a report is ready for a final review or share-out.
# Easier Tools Navigation and Defect Reporting **Date: March 27, 2026** We have made the tools area easier to navigate and simplified the defect reporting flow for day-to-day site work. ## What's New You can now start from a dedicated Tools page that explains what each tool is best for, so it is easier to choose the right workflow before you begin. The defect reporter now follows a clearer step-by-step flow. Adding defects comes first, optional details are grouped together, and it is easier to see when your draft is being saved and when the report is ready to generate.
# Improved Voice Input with Language Selection **Date: March 21, 2026** We've upgraded our voice input feature with better speech recognition and a new language selector. ## What's New Voice transcription now uses Gladia Solaria, a next-generation speech recognition engine that delivers faster and more accurate results across 100+ languages, including Estonian and multilingual conversations. ## Language Selector You can now choose your preferred transcription language directly from the voice settings menu. Select from English, Estonian, Russian, or let the system auto-detect the language you're speaking. The language defaults to your current interface language for a seamless experience.
# Improved Account Emails **Date: March 12, 2026** We refreshed BuildFind account emails with a cleaner design so key actions are easier to spot. ## What's New Verification, password reset, and team invitation emails now use a clearer layout with stronger call-to-action buttons and more readable content.
# Deep Research for Project Questions **Date: March 11, 2026** You can now run deep research across your project files to answer multiple important questions in one go. ## What's New The new Deep Research tool lets you add up to 25 research questions and analyzes them in parallel using your project documentation, company resources, and applicable standards. Instead of searching one file at a time, you get a single, structured report with key findings and cited sources. ## Why This Helps This makes it easier to prepare for coordination meetings, design reviews, and compliance checks. Your team can quickly compare findings, spot gaps early, and make decisions with clearer evidence.
# Floor Plan Analysis **Date: February 16, 2026** You can now upload PDF floor plans and get automatic room detection with precise area calculations — no manual measuring required. ## What's New When you upload a vector PDF floor plan to a project, BuildFind automatically detects individual rooms, calculates their areas, and identifies room labels from the original drawing. Results are displayed in an interactive viewer where you can click on rooms to see details, with a summary table showing all rooms and their areas. ## How It Works - Upload a PDF floor plan to any project - The system automatically detects it as a floor plan and runs the analysis - Open the floor plan viewer from the file menu to see color-coded rooms overlaid on the original walls - View a room-by-room breakdown with names and areas in square meters ## Good to Know - Works best with vector PDFs exported from CAD tools (AutoCAD, Revit, ArchiCAD, etc.) - Scale is detected automatically from dimension annotations on the drawing - Multi-page floor plans are supported with page tabs in the viewer

# Microsoft Project Integration **Date: January 31, 2026** BuildFind now connects to your Microsoft Planner and Project plans, bringing your task and project data right into the AI chat. ## What's New - **Access your plans from chat** — Ask the AI assistant about your Microsoft Project plans without leaving BuildFind - **Browse tasks and buckets** — View tasks organized by bucket, see assignments, due dates, progress, and checklists - **Search and filter** — Find specific tasks by name, status, assignee, or due date range directly through the chat - **Task details at your fingertips** — Get full task descriptions, checklist items, and completion status in one place ## How to Use It Connect your Microsoft account in settings, and then simply ask the AI assistant about your project plans. For example: - "Show me my project plans" - "What tasks are due this week?" - "Which tasks are assigned to John?" - "Show me the details for the foundation inspection task"
# Defect Report Improvements **Date: January 30, 2026** A major upgrade to defect reports — with version history, team sharing, and report categories. ## Version History Every time you regenerate or edit a defect report, a new version is created while the previous ones are preserved. Use the version selector to switch between any past version, and the history page now groups versions together so you can easily track how a report has evolved over time. ## Shared Across Your Team Defect reports are now visible to your entire project team. Company admins can see all reports across company projects, while team members see reports from their assigned projects. Drafts remain private until you're ready to share. Each report card also shows who created it. ## Organize by Category You can now assign categories to your defect reports — pick from existing categories or create new ones on the fly. This makes it much easier to filter and find reports when you're managing multiple inspections across a project.
